Sushmita Sen is the 1994 Miss India winner. When the contestants found out that Aishwarya Rai was going to be in it, 22 of them dropped out, but Sushmita's Mother told her to stay in.
Aishwarya Rai won every preliminary round but at the end, Sushmita was tied with her. The tie breaker was a question and Sushmita clearly won, thus taking the title from Aishwarya Rai. Sushmita went on to win the 1994 Miss Universe title and Aishwarya Rai won the Miss World title. Now that was a great year to be a woman from India. But, which do you prefer? We prefer Aishwarya but you can certainly disagree.
